After a year of International, National, and Bus and Truck touring companies, Melissa made her Broadway debut as Judy Turner in Michael Bennett's original production of A Chorus Line. She played this optimistic, dizzy brunette for more than 2,000 performances at the Schubert Theatre. While in NYC, she received critical acclaim as Shelby in the New York premiere of Molly Newman's Shooting Stars with The Actor’s Space, originated the role of Wally in Steven Fechter's Schiele, and was a member of The Kraine Theatre Company.
Melissa is deeply grateful to her teachers Michael Bennett, Joseph Papp, Blair Cutting, Tony Greco, and SITI Company. Favorite credits include Syzygy Theatre Company’s 365 Plays in 365 Days, an all-female version of Julius Caesar, portraying Margaret Bourke White in Cover of Life, Pfeni in The Sisters Rosensweig, Woman inTalk To Me Like The Rain, and Trevor in Son of Semele Ensemble's West Coast premiere of Sheila Callaghan’s Roadkill Confidential.
The Walking Wounded: An Evening of Dorothy Parker marked her trip, stumble, and fall into the world of experimental theatre. Original works include: Asylum, a devised collaboration exploring vice, sin, and consequence presented at SoSE's Company Creation Festival 2013; The Hat, a duet interweaving text, choreography, and live jazz premiering at The New York Int'l Fringe Festival - NY Fringe in August 2013; and The Women of "The Hat," a solo version featuring the female characters of The Hat. Asylum was presented at SOSE's Company Creation Festival 2013 in collaboration with Fabula Hysterica. The Hat premiered at the NY International Fringe Festival, in August of 2013.
Melissa is a professional dancer and has trained extensively with SITI Company in Suzuki and Viewpoints. She is Co-Chair of the Theatre Department at Glendale College, a member of Son of Semele Ensemble, and founder of Leap in the Dark Productions.
